My name is Aaron Price, and I'm from San Diego. I went to an innovative project based high school where I wrote my own curriculum for 9th through 12th grade. There, my passion for making ignited. I spent those four years building engineering projects to make an impact on the climate crisis. I built a moored ocean buoy, weather balloon data loggers, a hydroxy gas aided go kart, and a parachute ejector for model rockets.
I graduated and went to Duke to study electrical engineering. I was miserable. The hands on work that I adored in high school was replaced by endless problem sets. So, I left college and moved to San Francisco to join a brilliant founder on her climate tech startup. It was the most learning intensive time of my life but I realized that I wasn't done with my academic journey. I went back to Duke to finish undergrad as a computer science major and play in the sandbox of college.
Through these experiences of joyous and miserable schooling, I learned how much an educational environment influences the success, excitement, and confidence of students. Now, I aim to reimagine schooling so that every student is empowered.
Outside of these pursuits, I enjoy surfing, coding silly projects, and watching Duke basketball games.
